In February, the 2023 Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania Conference was held in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i. Faculty from BYUH presented their research at the conference.
Rebekah Walker and Dr. Line-Noue Memea Kruse presented their research "Examining the Process of Protecting Spaces, Places and the Identity of Pacific Islanders."
In another session, Dr. Line-Noue Memea Kruse presented with Sa'iliemanu Lilomaiava-Doktor from UH West Oahu on "Pacific Sisters at the Crossroads of Discrimination in Politics, Gender, and Identification (Sex) Identities."
Dr. Line-Noue Memea Kruse also held a book talk for her book, "The Pacific Insular Case of American Samoa: Land Rights and Law in Unincorporated US Territories."
Dr. Tevita Ka'ili presented his research in two sessions: "Decolonising the Sea of Islands" and "Mana Moana: Protecting the Sacredness."
